Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford), a woodcarver, pleasing local children with tales of a mysterious dragon who lives deep in the forest in the Pacific Northwest. His daughter Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) believe this is only a story high, so he met Pete (Oakes Fegley), a 10-year-old orphan who says he lived in the woods with a giant, friendly dragon. With the help of a young girl named Natalie (Oona Laurence), Grace sets out to investigate if these demands are great can become a reality.

Over the years, the old wood carver En Meacham has excited local children with his stories fierce dragon who lives deep in the forest in the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace, who works as a forest ranger, these stories are less than the height until he met Pete. Pete is a mystery 10 years old with no family and no home who claim to stay in the forest with a giant green dragon named Elliot. And from Petes lighting, Elliot looks very similar to the dragon of Mr Meachams story. With the help of Natalie, a 11-year-old slave girl whose father Jack has a local lumber mill, Grace set up to determine where Pete came from, where he was a member, and the truth about this dragon.
